Our Company
Edison Properties is a privately held company rooted in Newark since 1956. Over time, the company has evolved from a hands-on operating business into a long-term owner and steward of a broader portfolio of real estate-related assets and brands. Today, Edison is focused primarily on ownership, oversight, and strategic asset management, while many front-line operating functions are carried out by experienced third-party managers and operating partners.
Our History
Founded in February 1956 by brothers Jerry and Harold Gottesman, Edison Properties traces its roots to its first Edison ParkFast lot on Edison Place in Newark, adjacent to Newark Penn Station. From the beginning, the company reflected its founders’ belief in opportunity, patience, and long-term commitment. Over time, Edison grew and evolved in New Jersey and New York City, building a reputation for thoughtful investment and enduring stewardship. Over the decades, that same philosophy also shaped other ventures, including the creation of Manhattan Mini Storage and later investments in office, residential, coworking, and mixed-use real estate.
Our Approach
Long-Term Thinking—We take a patient view of ownership, investment, and value creation.
Stewardship—We believe in responsible oversight of assets, relationships, and the communities connected to them.
Partnership—We work with experienced operators and managers whose expertise supports the long-term success of the broader portfolio.
While the company’s structure has evolved, Edison’s core perspective remains the same: take a long-term view, act thoughtfully, and build enduring value over time.
